Greetings,

I picked up a cherry scion this spring from the exchange. I last checked it two days ago and it looked great. This morning I saw that the leaves had turned brown and sick looking. I'm not sure what happened, and would like to know if the graft failed or some disease/bug got it.

I took photos but don't know how to post them here.

Thanks for reading,

Jay in newberg

Hi Jay,
I have the same problem. I wish I didn't. My guess is a disease got them. I have one left that is vibrant, maybe 2 that are so-so. Last year both were fine. I don't know either.

I have had my whip and tongue cherry grafts to the point of almost flushing out of the buds but in the last few weeks they have just quit growing while at the same time my other prunus grafts are marching out. I had the same thing happen to cherry last year and I had guessed it had something to do with missing chill hours or something temperature related.

Let's compare pictures with yours. Send pics to hollaus-at-comcast.net and I'll get them up for you.
