Happy 4th of July,
Or should I say 27th of May? The birds are already stealing my ripe, red pie cherries, so I had to net them. While I was out there, I ate some ripe red raspberries. Goumis have been ripe for almost a month. THis is a weird climate situation. How hot and dry will our summer be?
I'm desperately thinning golf ball and baseball sized apples before I put the ziploc/footies on so I don't break branches. I guess it's sort of crappy to be complaining about too much fruit.
Sorry,

I hope it's not too hot and dry! But it could be. Pie cherries - yum! Mine are not ripe yet.
I put in a big water tank to hold rainwater. It will not be enough, but for the areas downhill from that, at least I can keep them watered when needed. Figs, domesticated blackberries, and some others.
On the plus side, I grew my sweetcorn by planting directly in soil starting in April and still planting more now. Once the raining season ends, I will mulch with straw. The tomatoes are blooming now. Breba figs are getting big. One, Brunswick, almost never gives be brebas and the main crops are usually too late and rot in the fall rain, so getting a few early summer is a real treat. Lattarula and a Sicilian NOID have lots of brebas this year.
John I hope the bagging works well for you. I got a lot of rot from bagging with ziplocks so am doing without this year. Would love to hear how yours turn out.
