What grows and ripens well in Oregon's coastal climate?
My apples, cherries, peaches and Asian pears, Chilean guava, and Desert King fig produced ripe fruit, from trees planted a year or two ago. I'm trying, with young trees and no fruit yet, several other figs, feijoa, Hardy kiwi, mulberry, passionfruit, Nikita's Gift and Early Fuyu persimmons, plus loquat and paw paw seedlings. Harvest Nursery provides low-cost seedlings to try, which is nice, when you're experimenting.
The blueberries, blackberries and raspberries do well.
My location is 1/4 - 1/3 mile in from the coast, with some areas protected by the house. Even going a couple blocks down the street provides a quite different, generally warmer microclimate.
My dad has a cabin in Gearhart. It's next to Seaside, so it's really North Oregon Coast, and it's about 5 blocks inland from the beach. We have had most success with berries. Currants, aronias, autumn olives have been the fruits that have grown the most. I had an apple tree, but it was the same size with no fruit after 5 years. We moved it here to the wIllamette valley and now we get Calville Blanc D'hiver apples every year. It is an apple which needs heat.
