I have been trying for years and blueberries seem to be the only cutting I can not get to root. I have tried early, late, new growth, old growth, and no success.
This year I have a tray of cuttings in sand and they all seem fine above the sand level, but no roots. Been there all winter, and they are last springs newer growth. The buds are starting to form but still no roots. Used hormone, kept the sand moist but not wet. The Kiwi, currents, Rose Jasmine, Thornless Blackberries, and assorted ornamentals all had roots and doing well. This is the only plant that I could not get to root. Intimidating.
What can I possibly be doing wrong? Need some advice about where to look for the trouble. How long does it take blueberries to root. Tried the branch healed into the ground overwinter and that did not work either.

Yes, from what I've read and heard you can't just expect blueberries to root without bottom heat - which is why I haven't tried doing them! Was easier to just buy several year old plants for several dollars each than get or make a set up to root them myself. Was told by a local blueberry farmer that they had started their thousands of of bushes from cuttings, in the ground in a mixture of sawdust and soil; but they buried garden hose winding through the nursery area and pumped heated water through it the entire time the cuttings were being rooted.
So more work than I wanted to do, and takes more equipment that I can't just easily cobble together; even being with being offered free cuttings!
