Hi
Want to easily remove your green husks from black walnuts?
Ok. Get a two foot piece of 2 x 4. then get two short pieces 3 1/2 x 2 x 4. Attach the short pieces crosswise at each end of the two foot piece, to make a squat 'H,' with screws.
Now drill a 1" dia hole, then a 1 1/4" dia, then a 1 1/2" dia, then a 1 3/4" dia hole in the long 2x4 piece, each about 3 1/2" apart, while leaving about 3 1/2" between the edge of the short pieces on either end.
Put on your rubber gloves and grab a green nut with husks, and then position it over the approximate size hole you expect the nut to be and give it a wallop.
Bam off comes the husk!
THis is a great idea. Black walnuts are native, I believe, so wildlife maniacs in particular, get very excited about them. I believe that black walnuts were used traditionally (by Native Americans or pioneers?) as an anti-parasitic. I have been reading in health literature about how a huge percentage of the American population actually has a parasite, but our current medical model doesn't quite know how to handle the problem. Some have used strong tasting herbs to positive effect, like garlic, chile, ginger, etc.
