I've had a lot drop. The little kids next door want to eat them. I say, have at it. I wonder if it's related to extreme heat and drought.
With our climate change, over time I've realized that my Mcintosh apples that normally fall naturally in september were falling in August. I better get out there and eat some of them. Gravenstein too.

My Wynooche Early apple tree was really affected by the June heat wave and maybe also by the hot summer that we've experienced. Along with losing many apples to sunburn, it's now dropping half a dozen or more apples per day, some of which aren't quite ripe yet even though it's an August apple. It usually has a very nice crisp texture - this year some of the apples are crisp, but a lot are soft and not so great for fresh eating.
It definitely has been a weird year.
