Dear Orchard Folk
Iam searching for a supplier in the UK of an apple called 'Rival'. I can have it grafted by two or three nurseries but this will take some time and I would really like to get it this planting season. The nursery I would have bought it from has gone in to liquidation this year. Scotts Nurseries in Merriot Somerset. So sad, such a great nursery. Does anyone know who bought all the stock at the auction in November and if any of it survives somewhere.
Grateful for any help
Rival

Hi rival, if i was you, i would just get a grafting sorted out as soon as possible.
Now is the time that scion wood can be collected and will be grafted shortly; if you get a successful graft now, the scion will begin to grow in spring. With a little bit of luck, you might get 1 or 2 apples a year after.

Ask Stephen Hayes at http://www.fruitwise.net/menu.html. He is really friendly and helpful orchardist who lives in in southern Hampshire and may be able to help you out.

there is a really decent small nursery in Puyallup WA and the owner is very ethical and honest, no hype.
He's got some of the latest apple rootstocks too.

Boizeau, looks like a great little nursery… all our dreams I suspect. He also had a link to the Seattle Tree Fruit Society, our ‘neighbor to the north’ -- where I spotted one of ours!
That’s our HOS VP ...giving away even more of his time IDing Apples! …hey Shaun, it would be fun to tag along…
