Lot of antique & heritage apples to taste this Saturday; fresh and in liquid form, at Antique Apple Orchards of Sweet Home. Highlight of the day will be the operation of a vintage commercial cider press. Time is 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Location is 28095 Santiam Hwy (watch for signs near milepost 25 on Hwy 20 going into Sweet home from Lebanon) - the setting is very picturesque along the banks of the South Santiam River - all events under a roof in case of rain - know the whole family will have a great time there - owner is a long time member and major contributor to HOS - HOS fruit ID team will be on hand there too - what a deal!!!
Is this an HOS event? I don't see it under "Coming Events". Is there a web page anywhere advertising this? I'd feel a little weird making this trip on the sole basis of a vague HOS forum post. I feel like if I showed up I might find some guy yelling at me to get off his property.
Here is the flyer for the 2007 event:

Very real event, and it's not vague at all! They've been having it probably at least as long as the HOS has been around, first Sat. of October every year - though since I'm a fruit "newbie", I only found out about it last year - much less crowded that the HOS All About Fruit Show, even though it's only apples! I called Joe (the owner / operator of the orchard) to confirm it this year, it's on for this mext Sat. the 4th.; and I'll be there:)

tstoehr - hope you went and had a great time - not as easy as you think getting things on the HOS webpage - re: a new posting on Grape ID’ing - didn’t make it to the webpage either - you got the time and computer skills to help out in this area???
