I put several ziplocs on my Asian pears this year and almost all of them were knocked off in the strong wind we had the past couple of weeks. None of my footies were knocked off and I think that the little Asian pears would not have been knocked off without a giant clear plastic "sail" on them. Next year I will start the Asian pears off with footies because they are the earliest and therefore, the most susceptible to wind damage.
I am still going to use ziplocs but mostly on apples because they are a bit later, and so there will be less risk of wind damage.
