It appears we had another successful set of grafting classes at Clackamas Community College on Saturday. I was personally pleased to see several members of the Yamhill Co. Master Gardener’s having followed my suggestion they trek over to the class - including their fearless leader
It was also fun to meet several more folks from ‘our Forum,’ including the fellow who I’d suggested he graft over his 6 year old nonproductive apple trees as opposed to removing them. Guess I’d better next suggest our Fruit Propagation Fair (Scion Exchange) Saturday, March 19, 2011 - 11 AM to 5 PM at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds in order to secure some scion wood.
If there are any follow-up questions to our grafting presentation - feel free to post them here. There were some very good questions during the classes (as all three classes were filled to capacity), and everyone seemed pleased to watch ‘us’ bounce ‘the answers’ among ourselves. There are many (many) techniques of grafting and everyone eventually develops (or simply sticks with) what works for them, but the basics are just that - basic, and once you’ve a grasp of those - you’re off!
Recently reviewing hours of Youtube videos on grafting and topworking fruit trees -- I’m certain we gave an excellent presentation. …so see ya at the Propagation (Scion Exchange) Fair " title="Wink" />
