They are calling for 20 degrees tomorrow night. My  apple trees are past full bloom, and many are just about done with petal fall.  I've read that temps lower than 25 will result in a  90% bud kill. The trees are too massive and numerous to cover.  I sprayed water on them a few weeks back, but it was only 29.  Should I spray water tomorrow night, or is it futile at 20 degrees?   We are not a commercial orchard, so not setup with heaters, etc.

Also a friend has a small tree and wondered if she covered it with a heavy tarp, if that would work at 20 degrees? Thanks for any advice.

20 degrees sounds too cold to do anything about, to me.  I’ve read about ‘smudge pots,’ fans, and sprinkler systems ... but don’t think they can help in this case…  I’ve heard of people stringing Solstice lights through a single tree, but don’t think that did a bit of good Confused

What’s your location and altitude..?
